FINAL DAY IN RHODE ISLAND

Today is our final day in Rhode Island and there is much to do to get ready. Everything has to be packed up and secured for the ride to our next stop. But wait, time with friends is more important!

There was one more eating destination that the Reynold's thought we needed to experience and I am so glad they did. We decided since supper would be served before church tonight at the church, a special lunch would be ok. We went to Greg's. Now they had already told us about the desserts there so we knew dessert was not to be skipped. We decided to share an appetizer for lunch and just go for the yummy desserts. Only problem...the appetizer was big enough for a family of 4. We boxed up part of it and went immediately to the important course: DESSERT. Tommy ordered Strawberry Shortcake (with lots of whipped topping) and I ordered Death by Chocolate (what a way to go). The serving sizes I am sure were planned for the Jolly Green Giant. I ate my cake in 3+ sittings; Tommy was able to eat his in 2 sittings. That is one restaurant we will not skip on our next visit.

By the time we finished eating it was time to get back home and prepare for leaving for church and our departure afterwards. Thankfully, one of my new friends, Paula, came by and we were able to chat for a few minutes.

Our last time at church for this trip was very special as we said goodbyes to so many new friends. This has been a life-changing month for us. The congregation, pastor and his family at Beacon Free Will Baptist Church are some of the finest people anywhere. We can hardly wait to see what the future holds for them as they move into their own church building and become an even brighter "beacon" in the beautiful community where God has placed them.

Here we go...on to York, Pennsylvania...but wait...THERE'S MORE

Tommy planned our trip to travel about 2 hours down the road, get ahead of some heavy traffic tonight instead of in the morning. We planned to stop and rest for a few hours and then go on in to York tomorrow morning. Our GPS is set for a truck stop where RVers are welcome to stop and rest as well. Only problem, there was nothing like that when we get there, only a residential section. What now?

We traveled a little longer and pulled off to get gas. After the initial sign, there was no other indication of where this gas station was. After looking around a bit in a strange neighborhood, late at night, we decide to head back to the interstate.

Next time we saw a truck stop we tried that. No room in the parking lot for any size rv. It was full of tractor/trailer rigs. Our next option was Walmart parking lot. We finally found one at 3 am. We slept for about 2 hours and then did the only thing you can do in that situation....we looked for a Cracker Barrel. Not only did we find one, but there was actually room to park our rig.

We ate breakfast and headed to York, which by the way, since we have covered more ground than we had planned, we will now arrive too early to enter our spot at the campground. Sooo, we stop at a mall and get our morning walk and then, because we are exhausted we decide to take a chance on being able to get in to the campsite early.

After much driving on winding country roads, up and down the Pennsylvania hills, we arrive, and yes we can get in early. We set up and then we laid down for a long nap. Wonder what else this month will hold?
