The day began as usual, plus an air of expectancy and excitement. You see, today was the first service at Beacon Free Will Baptist Church in their new building. We arrived a little after 9 a.m. and were delighted to see things looking so pretty. Much cleaning and polishing had been done since we left about 10 days ago.
Pastor Bill reported to us that 7 children trusted Jesus as their Savior during this past week of VBS. The Saturday prior to VBS, Beacon held their annual Family Fun Fair and several dozen families filled out information cards and many of them indicated they were interested in more information about the church.
God is obviously working on hearts here in North Kingstown and we anticipate many souls being saved in the near future.
While our hearts were full during the service today as we were reminded of the many miracles and answers to prayers, that would not be the highlight of the day. After church we were invited to a cookout with Brian and Valerie, our golfing buddies from a few weeks ago. While the hot dogs and hamburgers were being grilled, God was at work in Brian's heart. From inside I noticed that the conversation seemed to be serious, and within a few moments I noticed that Brian had handed over the grilling tools to Tommy and he and Pastor Bill were praying! Pretty soon Pastor Bill came inside with a huge smile on his face and a tear in his eye. Brian had just asked Jesus to come into his heart. We are rejoicing over Brian's salvation and looking forward to many others in the days ahead.
We are so thankful to be a part of what God is doing here in Rhode Island. Our bodies are a little weary, but our hearts are filled with gratitude for all that God is doing here and around the world.
