We always love going to Williamsburg just to get away for a short time, so we decided to take the motorhome and go for a short time before our long trips begin. We rested and shopped a little, rested and spent time with friends and family.
Josh Mann is involved in opening a new restaurant in Williamsburg called the Spoon Diner. We wanted to check that out and give him some business and we're glad we did. It was yummy and lots of choices on the menu. Anyone going up that way should try it out. It's on the main road across from Friendly's.
We also chose to be in Williamsburg on Wednesday night so we could go to church with Robert and Katie Brenneman. Robert is currently pastoring Calvary Baptist Church there. We met some really sweet people and are anticipating great things as God uses Robert and Katie to minister there.
When we first arrived at church we found Katie and Robert in the social hall getting ready. Robert had forgotten his shoes and belt so Katie had been out to buy him replacement wardrobe items. Tommy, acting like the former dean of students that he is, reminded Robert of the time...time to start. Just a little fun. Robert did a good job teaching and we prayed with their people and fellowshipped after the service.
Cracker Barrel is a required stop whenever we are in Williamsburg so we went there for dessert and fellowship after church. We are so thankful for our young people like Robert and Katie who are seeking to do God's will even while they are still training. We pray that God will greatly use them for His glory.
One of our favorite things to do when we go to Jamestown is riding the ferry over to Wakefield so we can go to the Virginia Diner for breakfast, and we did just that. As always, the breakfast was yummy.
On Saturday morning Brenda (my sister) and I decided to do some garage sale shopping. It was so much fun. Especially funny was our expertise in backing out of a winding driveway. My skills were certainly lacking and I was embarrassed that Brenda was watching the process. Then she started backing down the same driveway and I realized the skill was in the genes. We laughed so hard we could hardly finish our descent. When we finally got to the bottom and stopped, we got out of our cars and laughed hysterically. Every time I thought of that mental picture for days, I had to giggle at our skill. We just wish there had been a camera somewhere so we could win America's Funniest Videos. It would surely have won.
