OVERCAST DAY TO TRAVEL

Some of you may be wondering why I haven't blogged in several days. Well, since the last post, we have been back home to Virginia for a brief visit.

We were welcomed warmly by Tommy's mom when we arrived on Thursday evening, April 26, with some of her delicious cooking, especially that good Southern banana puddin'.

A sinus infection necessitated a visit to our family doctor for me and a few days were spent coughing and barely talking.

We enjoyed a little rest, time with friends, the Lanes' and the Harris' at Outback on Friday evening, and then on Saturday evening with dinner with Tommy's sister and brother-in-law (Jane and Ralph). By the way, if anyone sees Sandy, Tommy's brother, let him know that we enjoyed the buttermilk custard pie. He'll understand!

On Sunday we enjoyed being in our home church at Gateway. We love that place!

Well, one of the main reasons we went home for a brief visit was to attend Gateway Christian College's graduation service. The graduating class included Britt Hoskins who crammed 4 years of college into 7. Britt was a student when we were on staff at the college and it was important to us to be there for this special event. The other young people were dear to us as well, and the effort to be there was worth it!

On Monday I was able to spend most of the day with my mother. She sometimes struggles with us being gone so much, but she really is thankful for the work we are doing. I am so thankful for parents who dedicated me to the Lord when I was young and always taught us to be surrendered to do God's will for our lives.

On Wednesday our trip home was climaxed (?) with my visit to Dr. K (our dentist). I had to have a crown prep done and this was the best time, considering we were going to be home for graduation and to see our mothers. What a way to spend the last day at home. Actually it went well, and I am glad that is over with.

This morning we got in the car once again and headed north. After about 13 hours on the road, we arrived back in Rhode Island. We spent a little time visiting our missionary friends and then unpacked and prepared to get back to work tomorrow.
